Sweet Melissa

We lost a dear friend very suddenly yesterday. She was the beloved wife of our friend Neil, and an amazing mother to two little girls, Nola and Lu. She was also the only person on earth who could convince me to walk into a crowded bar with a giant piece of cardboard strapped to my back, dressed up like an album cover, just because it was Melissa's birthday wish.

Questionnaire

Gus’s babysitter (Hi, Kelley Anne!) is studying Human Growth & Development in school and needed to interview a four year old recently as part of her coursework. An excerpt from the questionnaire she did with Gus appears below.

 

Are you ever tired?

No. I’m never tired. I only yawn, but I’m never tired.

 

Can you tie your own shoes?

No. I don’t know.

Are you more like your mom or dad?

Like my mom.

Why?

Because I kinda look like her. There are more reasons but I don’t know them.

 

Do you like to tell your friends what to do?

Yes! I like to tell my friends if they can’t play in a center, but Ms. Joan tells me not to.

 

Do you like it when your friends tell you what to do?
No! I don’t like it when my friends tell me I can’t play. It’s mean.

 

Who of your friends do you play with the most?

Dominick! I really like him. He’s nice. But he picks his boogers more than me.

 

What’s the main difference between a boy and girl?

Girls aren’t that silly and boys are really silly.

 

Can girls play with trucks?

Yes!

 

Can boys play with dolls?

No. I mean they can if they want. I sometimes do.

 

Do you eat healthy food or junk food?

Both! Corn and green gum.

 

Do you like being four?

No! I want to be 5.

Why?

Because 5 is much better than 4!
